Musical Mother Tongue Course (Beginner and Intermediate)
8 sessions of ear training and music theory — grounded in the Kodály method, built through singing, improvisation, and composition.
Sessions: 8
Investment: $150 / session
Can be taken as a standalone package or alongside either voice offering.
By the end, you'll be familiar with:
Hearing and singing intervals, scales, and simple melodies by ear — without needing an instrument to guide you
Solfège as a practical tool for internalizing music, not just labeling it
How rhythm lives in the body — feeling meter and pulse, not just counting it
The building blocks of Western harmony: how chords are constructed and how they move
Improvising simple melodies over a harmonic framework
The beginnings of composition — shaping a musical idea from feeling into form
Reading music with more confidence — or a felt sense of why notation works the way it does
Your own musical instincts — as something real and worth trusting!
Instead of approaching music theory like a set of rules, I teach it as something you can feel into. We listen, we notice patterns, we start to recognize the shape of things—why a melody lands the way it does, why a chord change hits the way it does.
It’s less about getting the “right answer” and more about building familiarity. We’re building our musical mother tongue.
This course is for you if want to understand music from the inside — not just play or sing it, but think and feel in it. No prior theory knowledge needed. (Both beginner and intermediate levels offered)

These sessions move at the pace of your body.
There’s space to pause, to notice, to follow sensation without needing to explain it right away. Sometimes there are words, sometimes there aren’t. Both are welcome.
I’ll be there with you, tracking what’s happening in real time—breath shifting, tension easing, something small beginning to move.
It’s subtle work, but it can open a lot.
Over time, it builds a kind of trust—not just in the process, but in yourself. In your own signals, your own timing, your own way through.
Working together is right for...
For those ready to be heard more fully through singing, speaking, and honest self-expression.
꩜ You want to sing, speak, or express yourself with more freedom and less self-consciousness.
꩜ You want to build trust in your voice, whether you use it in conversation, performance, leadership, or private joy.
꩜ You want practical support with singing—breath, tone, range, confidence, and sustainable technique.
For those longing to soften, reconnect with the body, and release what is no longer theirs.
꩜ You carry tension in your body, your throat, your chest—and you’re ready for some of it to loosen.
꩜ You’ve spent years in your head and are ready to include your body in the conversation.
꩜ You’re healing from fear, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or the habit of holding yourself back.
For those seeking a steady space to grow, be witnessed, and become more fully themselves.
꩜ You’ve been hard on yourself for a long time, and you’re curious what might happen with more compassion instead.
꩜ You’re craving a space where you don’t have to perform, explain everything, or get it right.
꩜ You want to be witnessed by someone steady, intuitive, and deeply attuned as you come more fully into yourself.
FAQs
-
Not at all. Some people come in with a lot of experience, some haven’t sung in years, but some don’t even think of themselves as singers! If you’ve heard that inner voice and chosen to follow it here, that’s enough. 🦋

We still work with technique, but I don’t approach the voice as something to fix or perfect. We pay attention to breath, tension, and sensation, and let the voice organize from there. It tends to feel more easeful and less forced.
-
It’s slower and more open-ended. We might track your breath, notice sensations, or stay with something that’s coming up in your body. There’s no set script, and you don’t need to have words for what you’re feeling.
-
No. You’re always in control of what you share. The work doesn’t rely on telling your story—it’s more about what’s happening in the present moment, in your body.
-
Very grounded and practical. We focus on listening first—recognizing patterns, intervals, and relationships—so that theory actually connects to your experience of music.

This work can be deeply supportive and therapeutic, but it’s not a replacement for licensed psychotherapy. If you’re looking for clinical mental health care, I’m happy to help you find the right support alongside or in addition to this work.

I offer 60 minute sessions on a sliding scale of $150-180, or $1,200 - 1,440 per package.
If you can’t make these costs work, let me know and we can potentially work something out. ❤️
Theory & Ear training sessions are a flat rate of $150.
